The Impressionists
It turns out that Facebook is actually good for something. Who knew?
Thanks to a friends post about the new series on BBC2 called “Impressionism” I had something interesting to watch last night, and despite the really crap editing and production I enjoyed it. In a nut shell I was humbled and inspired, by the skill and dedication of popular, and less so artists. Made me feel like a bit of a faker, it’s time to up my game.

Blackpool 2011 – Sea, sand, spray
The result of two grown men, sharing the same room for a weekend and drinking a lot of alcohol. Myself and BLAM put this together for the Sand, Sea and Spray 2011 event in Blackpool over the weekend.

Working towards something
It’s now April. How that happened I’m not sure, but I’m glad for the warmer weather and lighter nights. It’s that time of year again when I start to work towards specific goals. There is quite a lot coming up this year, so keep your eyes peeled.
Here’s something I have been working on. I’m really happy that I have managed to loosen up a little. For a while my process started to get too tight for my liking. I need to learn to step back a bit more and view the art from a distance.

Sand, Sea and Spray
“Sand Sea & Spray brings to Blackpool an amazing art event, painting ‘Live’ on Saturday 21st May 2011 will be over 35 of the top Urban Artists (I’m apparently ‘urban’) in the world, travelling from Europe, Canada and across the UK to paint in Blackpool, the first of a truly unique event.
A gallery will be established on North Pier until 4th June showing the artists work.”

In Progress
Here’s a progress shot of the piece(s) I’m working on at the moment (you may have seen the one on the right if you follow my flickr rants). It’s become a habit of mine to post shots of artwork as it’s almost finished – it isn’t something I plan to do, it just happens.
I find if I constantly stop to take shots I lose the flow and often when I do take progress shots the process is painful and awkward. This means I usually only start to take shots as I’m winding down for the session. I never really considered how this effects the ‘wow’ factor of a piece, if indeed it does at all. I do like to share, and I know that some of you do like to see, so I do share. Probably not enough, though.
On Another note – it’s March 18th, I wish I hadn’t drunk so much last night.
